Water System Projects and Other Updates
Water System Emergency Alerts - In December 2019 a project was begun to provide Peacock Hill homeowners with text message and telephone alerts of PHSC water system outages. This service was developed with the assistance of the Albemarle County Emergency Coordination department. PHSC will be the first non-governmental entity to utilize this capability.
Homeowners who want to receive the alerts must provide PHSC with their mobile phone numbers which will then be made available to the Emergency Coordination department. There is no requirement to participate. Texts that a water outage or related issue has occurred, that a repair is underway, and the system returning to normal status, will be provided. Note that detailed descriptions of an outage with evolving times for repairs that are required or underway cannot be provided due to the limitations in the types of messages being used. However, those details will be provided via emails and updates on the PHSC website as necessary.
On April 7, 2020 a test alert was sent to all homeowners to illustrate how an alert would appear. Note the following:
1. The alert will originate from the number 76993
2. All messages will contains the words PHSC or Peacock Hill to refer to the issue.
3. The message is limited to 140 characters and therefore will provide a limited description of the issue. emails and this website's homepage will provide further details.
4. The message will also state it is via the Charlottesville/Albemarle CodeRED system.
5. All homeowners whose telephone is on file with the PHSC will receive the alert, unless they ask to opt-out of the service.

Past projects and maintenance
September 2018 - Extensive maintenance along Apple Ln was performed. This work was required to locate some water connections buried under overgrown bushes and trees.
August 2018 - This project installed monitoring equipment with cellular technology to replace telephone lines that control PHSC well pumps and water tanks. The telemetry system allows for remote monitoring and automatic alerts of well and tank usage along for PHSC staff to control the system. There was no disruption in water or sewage service as the equipment was installed.
